Arlene Kamo was born and raised in north Toronto. She received her MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Toronto and is a trained psycho-educational consultant. Arlene came across the Waldorf school movement early in her life’s work, and since 1987 has taught more than two cycles from Grade One to Eight as well as Kindergarten and Parent and Child classes. Arlene completed the Foundations in Anthroposophic Art and Biography Counselling with Arscura and received her Anthroposophic Art Therapy diploma from the Tobias School of Art in England. A graduate of the first cycle of Healing Education and Remedial Training (HEART) offered through the Association of Healing Education (AHE), she is the co-founder of the distance mentored HEART program and currently the HEART Director for the Rudolf Steiner College Canada.
Arlene was introduced to New Adult Learning by Arlene Thorn, the founder of NALA, in 2011. Finding the seven step process to be a tremendous tool for bringing soul/spiritual insights and a deepening of one’s practical experience of anthroposophy, she completed the New Adult Learning Educator course in the years to follow. Since this time, Arlene has co-facilitated the Connections course as well as offered the My Child/Myself course to the Trillium Waldorf School community in Guelph, Ontario over the past 10 years. The Trillium Waldorf School has used the 7 step process in many of its faculty and community meetings and this has been instrumental in bringing transformation on many levels. The New Adult Learning processes are also incorporated into the Healing Education and Remedial Training (HEART) program studies.
In addition to offering services as an outside consultant and evaluator for Waldorf schools, Arlene is currently on the faculty of the Trillium Waldorf School where she provides educational support for students through the Extra Lesson, anthroposophic art therapy, and tutoring. She also mentors teachers and facilitates parent/adult processes and education courses.
