Marg Beard

Hailing from Wingham, Ontario, Marg Beard is a Life in the Home Coach who is passionate about inviting
the other to explore, discover, and awaken to, through the lens of anthroposophy, ‘the new that is
possible’ on the journey of being a parent, a partner, a maker of home, and an educator.
Marg makes her offerings of support to parents (individually, as a couple, or in groups) through the New
Adult Learning (NAL) programs, as well as her private practice KALLIAS (ka-lee-es), which means ‘a
beautiful soul’.

As an accredited NAL facilitator, Marg presently takes the lead on the following NAL program offerings:

My Child Myself – While many parenting programs focus on the outer skills, this program builds inner
adult practices and capacities and engagingly explores the picture of the child as a being of body, soul,
and spirit. Through actively participating in observation, journalling, and learning processes, veils are
lifted that allow the true picture of the child and the adult to be revealed in order for the parent to step
into ‘what is needed to become’.

My Home, Family and Community – This program invites participants on a journey of exploring the hearth
of home, the impulse of family, as well as the co-creation of one’s community. Through observation,
journalling and learning processes, the opportunity for a new relationship to the profession/vocation as a
maker of home is possible so that each person can step into creating home as a living chalice for family
and healthy relationships out of freedom and individuality.

Marg’s life experiences bring a richness to the work that she offers through the NAL. As a child, Marg
created living spaces to play ‘house and school’ in a basement, an abandoned chicken coop, the
crawlspace of her childhood home, the centre of a Lilac bush, and in the heart of a forest. The attention to
home as a ‘nurturing and very special and magical space’ extended into her adult life, especially with her
husband Phil, and the birth of their three children. Together, they homeschooled, from birth through to
Grade 12, their three now adult children. To compliment the journey of home and education, Marg co-
founded Rosewood, a Waldorf-inspired homeschooling group, that was very active for 12 years.

Over the past 30 years, Marg has worked with Waldorf-inspired homeschooling families locally, nationally,
and internationally; for 7 years a faculty member of Chiron, an initiative for supporting Waldorf
homeschooling parents and Waldorf teachers; a mentor of the Da Vinci School (Toronto), as well as
Applegate, a private Waldorf-inspired school in Paisley, Ontario. Through her long-time affiliation with the
Rudolf Steiner College Canada (RSCC, Toronto), Marg has been a mentor of the Foundation Studies in
Anthroposophy program, the part-time Teacher Training program, a co-director of RSCC’s Healing
Education and Remedial Training Program (HEART), and a presenter at RSCC’s Summer Festival of Arts
and Education.

Marg is enthusiastically looking forward to meeting you and having the honour and privilege of walking
